Meet Shawn
D. Hunter.
A Milwaukee barber. A six-book author. A familiar face bringing stories, imagination, and connection to his community.

From the neighborhood.
For the next generation.
Shawn D. Hunter, also known as Shawn Da Barber, is a Milwaukee barber and the author of six books. His writing draws from childhood memories, family, humor, and the community around him. His stories turn familiar experiences into invitations to wonder, laugh, and imagine.
Through the adventures of Gionni, the imagination of Matthias Patton, and the neighborhood memories in What Happened to All the Fruit Trees?, Shawn gives young readers characters and ideas they can carry beyond the last page.
His work continues in classrooms, at community gatherings, and in everyday conversations. Shawn has shared his books with students and families and appeared on Real Milwaukee to introduce his work to a wider audience.

A story is only the beginning.
